Our hearts broke when we lost our Celeste unexpectedly. We will never forget our official office greeter.
Here is what her SBACC Mama and Kennel Attendant, Barbara, wrote for our sassy girl:
What is that? This is the question that was often asked anytime anyone saw Celeste. Celeste had the most unique look to her with her long body and her short stubby legs. Celeste came back to us with many health issues that had been untreated for a long time, because of that her body was deformed along with a wide variety of things growing and dangling on her. No matter how people reacted to her when they first saw her they always ended up falling in love, her personality had a way of drawing you in and you no longer noticed all of her extra baggage. Celeste loved life, no matter what obstacle she was facing, she never took one second for granted and always carried the biggest smile on her face followed by a constant tail wag. Celeste was the Queen B of the office and the official greeter, she sucked up all the attention she could get and often rolled on her back for belly rubs and of course no one could resist that lumpy belly of hers. Celeste had a memory that was sharp as a tack, she remembered anyone who had ever given her a cookie and she demanded one every time they walked in and if they didn’t give her one, she follow them around barking! She always enjoyed her grape popsicles, In N Out burgers, and pupaccinos from Starbucks, since she was on borrowed time and no one could resist her persuasive attitude she got just about anything she wanted.
Celeste loved everyone but her love for me was much deeper, it was a mutual love at first sight when I picked her up from the vet on September 1st, 2013, from that day forward we were inseparable, I knew that she was mine and I was hers. She filled my heart with love every single day; I just loved how she spent her days gazing up at me waiting for me to toss her handfuls of cookies. I made sure to spoil her as much as I could because I never knew when we would share our last moment together. Celeste made friends everywhere we went; in our 2 years and 5 months together she became famous! She had her own birthday Cellie-bration to celebrate her 2 year anniversary with us, she had t-shirts made with her face on them, she was on stage at the Wag N Walk, she became a cover girl as the face of our 2016 calendar, she had people yelling her name while we walked the Christmas parade, and we were pulled into a bar walking to the car because the people inside couldn’t wait to meet her. Celeste touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with; she showed people that outer appearances didn’t matter; true beauty is found in the heart and to always be happy no matter what life throws at you. At 11:02 p.m. Monday night Celeste passed away peacefully in the arms of a few people who loved her dearly. Our hearts are shattered as we cope with the loss of our beautiful girl who touched so many lives in such a short time, she will live in our hearts forever.
