Goldie is Loving Life!

goldie
Dear Seal Beach Animal Care Center,

I adopted Goldie from your wonderful care center in March 2007. She was part of the center’s TNR initiative, however lucky for me your center did not get to the release part and Goldie spent over a year in your care..

Although shy at first Goldie has come out of her shell and loves people. She is sweet, kind and affectionate.

For the past 5 years since coming to her forever home Goldie has brought much peace and happiness to me. She has lots of friends that visit her, (Gene and Linda, Irina and Natalie, and her babysitter Ralph) and she likes when they stop by for a rub and a purr.

Thank you for taking care of her and allowing me to have her in my life.

Sincerely,

Mary Ecker

The Lovely Lana

In a few weeks, it will be the second anniversary for having the lovely Lana (formerly Freedom) in my life. Since Svetlana and Solana mean sunshine and sunlight – I selected Lana as the perfect name. Having lost my beloved Luther, also from Seal Beach Animal Care Center, I needed some light in my life to help me through my sorrow.

When we arrived home from the shelter, she trotted into the living room and immediately curled up on the floor as if to say, “I’m home”. I needed her and I think she needed to be in a home to help hasten her recovery from a skin disease that had been allowed to get so out of control. The shelter immediately started treating this and taking great care of her, but she was still missing a lot of fur. Once she was home, that fur seemed to grow in almost overnight. Even the sparse tail, which the vet wasn’t certain would ever again have much fur, became full and fluffy. She’s absolutely gorgeous! Of course to me, she always was. I frequently have people comment that she looks like a Disney dog or that she looks like she should be in movies.

She can sit and stare at me, at length. I’ve even fallen asleep in the chair while she’s been staring and when I’ve awakened – she’s still staring at me. When I’m home, she’s always near my side. She’s very smart and loves to learn new things. She learned to crawl, literally in a few seconds.

She rules the house! She controls the other dogs and lets me know if I’m late with her dinner. She has a certain bark that tells me she’s impatient and wants her food. At the same time, she has this way of sitting and shifting her position so it sounds like she’s stamping her feet. If I arrive home after her typical dinner time, she immediately barks, and she rarely barks. It’s a bark that sounds as if she’s scolding me for being late with dinner. Fortunately, she’s more patient in the morning. If I want to sleep in, it’s okay. But once I’m up, I’d better immediately get her breakfast or she will scold me!

Lana loves her dog friends, especially her black cocker spaniel buddy. They tumble and wrestle a couple times a day. But her closest bond is with her human companion who absolutely adores her. And I’m very grateful for her companionship and to Seal Beach Animal Care Center for saving her and allowing me to adopt another wonderful friend. Thanks for all you do to save these animals who can then bring joy and companionship to people like me.

Dinah & Lila

Hi there!

Just wanted to give you all an update on the two “teenage kittens” our family adopted the week before Christmas in 2010. It’s hard to believe that in a few weeks they will have lived with us for a year!

We had never owned cats before and it has been such fun! Jiffy’s new name is Dinah, and Lilac was shortened to Lila. As you can see from the photo, they really love each other, and often sleep curled up together. We’re so glad we got two cats who could be companions for each other.

Dinah is a very mellow, affectionate cat who loves to lie in the sun and look out the windows. Lila is our “patrol cat” who is constantly on the go, checking everything out and playing with her toys.

Thank you for all you do at the shelter!

Best wishes,

Georgie lives the life

Hello SBACC,
I wanted to update you on George. I adopted him about six months ago and we are like two peas in a pod. He loves going hiking, kayaking, the beach and anything outdoors. He seems to love his new home and I couldn’t have asked for a better dog!

Natasha Moves to Arizona

My husband, daughter and I adopted Natasha over a month ago and she has been a wonderful addition to our family. She is so loving and caring and is so good to now our 8 month old baby. Natasha always makes sure she is ok when she falls or is crying. She goes out with us to see the horses every night and runs around out there with her other dog friends. Thank you so much from our family to yours. You definitely gave Natasha a second chance.

Thank You,

Cody Finds His Forever Family

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It’s been one year since I adopted Cody aka Lincoln. He was found around Memorial Day 2010. He was dirty, sticky and was missing large patches of hair. I am happy to report that he now has a beautiful coat and is very well adjusted and happy.

He enjoys walks in the rain, hanging out with his cousin T.J., trick or treating (especially the treat part) and naps…lots of naps.

Thank you SBACC for taking care of him and allowing me to give him a home.

My husband and I adopted Nelson and Nigel last month (December 2010) and we wanted to give you an update. They have been renamed Max (the one with the white legs) and Bo (the one with the striped legs) and they are doing great! They are adapting really well to their new home – and they LOVE their sisters Grace & Rosie, as you can see by the picture. Thank you for all the work you do and for providing us with these wonderful additions to our family!!

Take care and God bless,

To the caring people at Seal Beach Animal Care Center

At the end of September of this year I adopted two of the most wonderful kittens from your Animal Care Center. I had become acquainted with these kittens through their foster mother Janet Bloomquist while visiting her. Like many kittens they were quite adorable, but I would find out upon spending time with them how incredibly smart, loving, and affectionate they were. I am profoundly grateful to your Care Center for allowing me to adopt these kittens despite living several hundred miles north in Half Moon Bay, California. I would like to give special thanks to Leslie Wolder for working to make this possible and to my dear friend Janet for introducing me. I can’t tell you how much these kittens, Oscar and Yul, have enriched my life and given me great joy and happiness.

Forever Grateful,

John Liedstrand
