Basil is a 5 year old Maltese mix, and the most reserved of our “herb” group. She would enjoy a quiet, but semi-active home where she can enjoy long walks and get to broaden her horizons. She has been kept in a backyard, constantly surrounded by other dogs and being picked on. When she first got here she mostly hid under the bed or in a corner.
Basil is opening up and will come up for pets on her own terms. She seems to enjoy going for rides in the car, and just has a big smile on her face when she is out for her walks.
She would probably prefer to live with an older, more mellow dog, as apposed to a young pup that will constantly be harassing her to play. However, she would probably thrive as an only dog as well. We know that in a loving home, she will become a totally different, more confident dog over time. Basil just needs a little extra patience and understanding.
