How Can You Make a Lasting Impact?
During our lives, there are times when we pause to reflect on all that we have achieved and what we hope to accomplish. We contemplate how to write our life story in a way that embodies our values in word and deed.
Maybe you thought that you could do more for SBACC but were concerned about making a commitment that you might not be able to keep or using resources that you might, in the future, need for yourself.
There are many ways of creating a lasting legacy that offer you the option you want:
WILLS
A gift through a Will must go through the Superior Probate Court and takes approximately one year before SBACC receives the gift. Because SBACC is a tax-exempt charity, the gift is not subject to inheritance taxes. Gifts can be directed to cat, dog, or just general needs!
REVOCABLE TRUSTS
A gift through a Trust allows SBACC to receive your gift immediately upon your passing. Because SBACC is a tax-exempt charity the gift is not subject to inheritance taxes. Gifts can be directed to cat, dog, or just general needs!
CHARITABLE REMAINDER TRUST
This allows an individual to transfer an asset to SBACC and 1) not pay capital gains taxes, 2) receive lifetime income from the gift, and 3) realize an income tax deduction. The asset (Real Estate or Stock) would be gifted to SBACC rather than sold, and the gift would be made at full market value and become irrevocable. SBACC would then sell the asset and purchase an annuity based on the asset value providing a lifetime income to the donor and upon death of the donor the principal of the annuity would revert to SBACC. Gifts can be directed to cat, dog, or just general needs!
OTHER GIFTING IDEAS
Gifts can also be left through a Life Insurance Policy, Pension or Retirement Plan, a Charitable Trust or even by giving art, automobiles or stocks. (Please note, if donating a vehicle or boat, it is preferred to use a 3rd party charity and specify the Seal Beach Animal Care Center as the beneficiary.) Gifts can be directed to cat, dog, or just general needs!
