Jonah is a very handsome boy that had a rough start to life, and was severely neglected in his first year of life. He was found as a stray, covered in fleas with dirty and matted hair that was so bad he was having difficulty walking. Jonah will need a very special and patient dog savvy home.
We were able to get him cleaned up right away thanks to our friends at Soggy Dog grooming in Long Beach! Jonah was so thankful to get the matted coat off of him, get rid of the fleas, and start his next chapter!
He was also vetted right away, and is a very healthy boy. We got him started on his vaccines and got him neutered.
Jonah is definitely a dogs dog! Our office kiddos have been helping him come out of his shell and be a dog, and he is learning that people are kind and what affection is. When he came in it was clear that he had not been on a leash before, so we took things at his pace. We started plopping him in a doggy stroller and letting him just observe his surroundings and watch the other dogs on their walks. When Jonah would be set down on the ground to walk, he would just sink down and get as flat as possible, too scared to go forward on his own. After some time of being able to watch his friends enjoy their walks, he started walking on his own! Having the other dogs around, showing him the ropes, made all of the difference. Jonah would probably still be hiding in the corner if it wasn’t for the office kiddos!
Now that he has had some time to settle in, get cleaned up and vetted, and learn how to be a dog…we think he is ready to start the search for his forever family! He will need a quiet/calm home, without lots of people coming and going, where he can have time to settle into his new surroundings. Jonah would also LOVE to go home with another dog!
