Onyx came to us through no fault of her own, her family was heartbroken over having to give her up. Unfortunately a child in the home developed severe dog allergies, and had to be hospitalized.
While the family looked to rehome her, they had to now keep her separated from the children, which ended up causing her to go into a bit of a depression- losing interest in food, and ultimately losing quite a bit of weight.
Now that she has settled in here at the shelter, her weight is heading in the right direction! Her ideal weight range is around 65-70lbs.
After a few days of getting used to her new environment, her real personality started to come out. Onyx is such a goofy and loving girl!! She loves to play with toys, and chase tennis balls in the yard. Onyx rides well in the car, walks pretty easy on leash, and is super affectionate!
Onyx is dog friendly, kid friendly, and get along with cats as well! She is a very smart girl, who would take to training very well. In fact she already knows a few commands and is housebroken!
