This recent mama and her kittens were dumped on the Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum property in
Rancho Dominguez on Friday. People often mistake us for public property or that we have connections to the Downey animal shelter or any nearby animal control (we do not). We are a private historic site that hosts
public tours, so every animal that finds their way on the property either has a home with us or we have to pass them along to an available shelter. We have been able to rehome her other three kittens, but she still has one more, estimated to be five to six weeks old. This mother cat and her baby are clearly not feral; the mother is very lovely, even for a domestic cat. These cats have no proven survival skills, so far, to thrive on the property. Many of the feral cats fall victim to the local coyotes that love our site. This mama cat and her
baby desperately need a home, even if temporary. I would love to take them, but I am currently seeking new housing, so I cannot give a stable home to these adorable cats.
