Sadly, we had to start the 2025 New Year by saying goodbye to one of our long-term residents, our beautiful Yael. Yael came to us many years ago, having been rescued from an alley with her three kittens. Her babies all found homes, but Yael had not been around people at all, so she was very fearful and did not want to be touched. However, she too had found her home. It was here at SBACC.
Yael lived here for many happy years with her kitty roommates, as well as staff and volunteers who loved her. She became comfortable enough to accept treats and brave enough to be sure she was not overlooked when they were being passed around. She would meow to remind us. Sometimes, if we moved too close, she would hiss and then immediately follow that by a soft meow and a sad look as if to say, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to do that.” No one minded; we loved our bossy girl.
Over the years, many of her friends passed over the Rainbow Bridge, and they will be there to greet her and show her around. Yael will be missed but never forgotten.
